Dr. Mecid brings a wealth of musical experience to his private violin studio in Metairie, Louisiana. He earned degrees from Yale University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas.
As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras including the Bilkent Symphony, Azerbaijan National, and Presidential Symphony of Turkey. He is a prizewinner of the Remember Enescu and Queen Sophia Charlotte violin competitions.
With extensive teaching experience, Mevlan emphasizes strong technical foundations, musical discipline, and artistic development, helping students work toward their highest potential.
Teaching Philosophy
A guiding principle of my teaching is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can discover their potential and navigate the challenges of learning the violin. Every student has a unique personality, learning style, and set of goals, and I tailor my instruction to their individual needs.
The violin rewards patience, consistency, and curiosity. While building a strong technical foundation is essential, I believe students learn best when they feel motivated, confident, and connected to the music they are playing. My goal is to help students develop the skills necessary for long-term success while fostering enjoyment and fulfillment in the learning process.
I strive to create lessons that challenge students while remaining engaging and encouraging. Whether preparing for an audition or competition, or learning for personal enjoyment, I aim to help students develop their technical abilities, musical understanding, and confidence as performers.
Violin Studio
Throughout my teaching experience, I have worked with students of varying ages and abilities, guiding them from their first steps on the violin to advanced preparation for auditions and competitions. My students have earned All-Region and All-State placements, participated in youth orchestras, and received recognition in competitions.
Beyond these achievements, I emphasize a strong technical foundation, musical independence, and confidence as a performer. I tailor my teaching to each student’s needs while maintaining clear expectations and open communication with students and parents.
